India – Authentic Punjabi Cuisine
Lebanon’s best Indian Restaurant first opened in the Downtown area in 2005. In 2006 it moved to Ain El Mreisseh. In 2009 India moved again, back to the Downtown area where it was first intended to be. Located at the Markazia Monroe Suites Hotel, India is owned and run by Raji Varma, who is half Indian and half Lebanese, and whose father was the first to open an Indian Restaurant in the Middle East, Sirena, back in the 1950’s.
India offers authentic Punjabi cuisine from North India in a cozy typical Indian setting. The Ethnic Punjabi Muglai cuisine is prepared in a modern healthy fashion, and includes traditional Indian Curries, Biryanis and other specialties. Specialties include delicacies such as Shrimp Khorma, Chicken Do Piazza, and Rogan Josh. Starters include traditional Indian favorites like Papardums, Hara Bara Kababs, and Vegetable Samosas.
